What is a BEO ?



BEO ka full form-

The full form of BEO is Block Education Officer  . In Hindi, it is called a  Block Education Officer . The post of BYO comes under Group C. Recruitment to the block education officer posts is done by the Public Service Commission of the respective states. Normally there is a direct recruitment at the post of BEO for which the State Public Service Commission is done by the States. These posts are done on the basis of recruitment.

What should be the educational qualification for BEO BEO) ?

To become a BEO, you should have a Graduate (Graduate) with LT Diploma or B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) from any subject from a recognized university.

What is the selection process for the post of BEO BEO) ?

Candidates for the post of BEO are selected on the basis of written examination. This is accomplished in two stages -

  • Preliminary Examination ( Preliminary Exam)
  • Main Examination ( Main Exam)

Preliminary Examination ( Preliminary Exam) -

First written test is conducted. The written examination is conducted by the Public Service Commission. 
The preliminary examination consists of a paper which is   of two hours and the   paper is of total 300 marks.

Paper General Studies - 120 questions, which carries 300 marks.

Preliminary Examination ( Preliminary Exam) course -

  • general Studies-
  1. History of India, Indian National Movement.
  2. Indian Constitution, Indian Culture.
  3. Indian Economy, Indian Agriculture, Commerce and Trade.
  4. In the context of India (population, ecology and urbanization)
  5. World Geography, Indian Geography, Natural Resources of India.
  6. Occasional national and international important events.
  7. General intelligence in which logic and reasoning power.
  8. In specific knowledge - cultural, agriculture, industrial trade, state-specific social traditions and living.
  9. Elementary Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry 10th level etc.

 Main Examination ( Main Exam) -

After passing the preliminary examination you are included in the main examination. In this examination, the candidates have general studies, general Hindi, essay.

Paper No (1)   General Studies ( General Studies) - L20 questions, 200 points and time ( hours) 

Paper No ( General Hindi ( General Hindi)   and essays ( Essay) - 200 digit (including 100 points normal Hindi and 100 points in the essay) time ( hours) 

A merit list is issued by the Public Service Commission for the candidates who have qualified in the main examination and appear in the merit list. As per this merit list, the selected candidates are appointed for Block Education Officer .

Syllabus for Main Examination-

  • General Studies ( General Studies ) -
  1. history of India
  2. Indian National Movement and Indian Culture
  3. Geography of India .
  4. Indian polity.
  5. Indian Agriculture.
  6. Current national themes and issues in the context of sociality (India and the world).
  7. Indian Economy.
  8. International Affairs and Institutions.
  9. Development, communication and expansion in the field of science and technology.
  10. Immediate (contemporary) development in education (with reference to India).
  11. Knowledge of state-specific social traditions, living, culture, agriculture, industrial trade.
  • General Hindi and Essay -
  1. Abbreviation of unread passage, questions related to it, interpretation of the underlined questions and its title above.
  2. Government / semi-official letters, office orders / memorandum, notification press release and circular related writing / drafting.
  3. Translation of sentences from Hindi to English and English to Hindi.
  4. Multiple words, antonyms, parvachi words, tatsam and tadbhav, regional and foreign (word store), spelling, semantics, word form, treaty, compound, verbs, Hindi grammar, punctuation, word composition, syntax, meaning, idioms and The imposts which are used in the use of local language, the main dialects of the state and Hindi language.

Hindi Essay - Under this, one essay from two subsections (two essays in total) will have to be written. Each essay will have an expansion limit of 700 words. The following areas will be for the essay: -

(A) (i) Literature and Culture (ii)National Development Plans / Implementation.

(iii) National, international, current social problems / diagnosis.   

(B) (i) Science, Environment (ii)Natural calamities and their prevention

(iii) Agriculture, Industry and Trade 

How to prepare for BEO BDO exam ?

Candidates to succeed in exams Biio about national and international as well as events , history and India about the national movement , World Geography , India geography   politics and governance social development environment population reasoning power Arithmetic and Statistical General Science , General Hindi , essay writing, letter writing  etc. should be prepared.

It is a Gazetted post of a C group, its salary (salary) is Rs 9300 -34800 and pay grade 4800.

Its main functions are -

  • The task of BEO is to visit the council schools from time to time and check the quality of education.
  • Providing necessary tools for text-books and text-related activities in the context of all-round development of children and checking it from time to time.
  • To provide details of salary and selection data of selected non-teaching and non-teaching staff in schools and inform the higher authorities regarding this.
  • Dispatching of applications for various grants of non-government estimated schools and after scrutiny of over-supply forms to high officials.
  • Planning of sports scouting and race cross competitions and other class events, activities up to the block level.
  • To organize and inform all the students of the school and prevent their misuse.
  • Send a proposal to the Basic Education Officer for the establishment of the post of teachers on the basis of number of students.
  • The BEO has to cooperate with various officials of the state and central government in the implementation of the works and policies being done at the block level.
